The dark awakens the potential for growth

Being immersed in darkness, individuals are confronted with the unknown. The dark experience accelerates and anchors learning. We challenge our mindsets, our behaviours and our beliefs, resetting boundaries and shining a light on the unconscious brain. With the temporary loss of one key sense, a person’s emotional intelligence and social competence is amplified.

Why Darkness?

In the dark participants play an active role in stepping out of comfort zones and have meaningful dialogue while leveraging whole person connectivity. The dark experience provides an amazing opportunity to lean into different perspectives, deeper levels of listening and the real meaning of equity and inclusion. 

 

Exploring new possibilities, creating new narratives and new ways of framing our leadership style to the challenges we face every day.

With no visual cues to deceive, distract or distort, participants realise the importance of effective communication. 

 

They discover how their other senses adjust to exceptional situations, making them more adaptive, perceptive, and empathetic.

Learning Methodology & Model

Dialogue in the Dark™ Workshops are part of our transformative learning experiences.  Participants will face unpredictable situations like many business scenarios. With a wide range of activities participants will no longer learn from theory but from practice. Expertly trained lived experience facilitators create change and unpredictable scenarios that you will face, hold agency, and successfully overcome together in darkness.

Our learning model enables the process of transformative learning to play out through four overarching steps

Experiencing a disorienting dilemma

Participants are immersed in an unfamiliar environment, fostering a sense of vulnerability and dependency on circumstances they typically control.

Critically evaluating assumptions

Groups can critically examine their preconceptions, biases, and assumptions. The facilitators, experienced in navigating such dilemmas, guide participants through this process.

Acquiring and implementing new knowledge

Participants find the learning environment conducive to exploring and enhancing their thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.

04

Exploring options for new roles, relationships, and actions

Through experience, dialogue and reflection participants discover possibilities for change and dedicate time to develop practical strategies and personal commitments to embed learning gained during the experience.
